About S&B Foods

What "Hon Wasabi" means
Hon wasabi (本わさび) literally means "real wasabi" — the Japanese Wasabia japonica plant — as opposed to Western horseradish (seiyō wasabi), which stands in for it in most budget tube pastes.
How to use & enjoy
Traditionally a small amount is placed directly onto sushi or sashimi — often tucked between the fish and the rice — rather than stirred into the dish of soy sauce. It's also a classic condiment for cold soba (zaru soba) and udon, on top of the noodles or stirred a little at a time into the tsuyu dipping sauce, and it pairs well with steak and other grilled or seared beef (as a dab alongside or worked into a compound butter). Beyond straight Japanese use, it's whisked into vinegar and oil, or into mayonnaise, for a Japanese-style dressing. Its aroma and heat are delicate and fade with air and gentle heat, so it's best added close to serving rather than cooked.
