About Nisshin Seifun Welna
Nisshin Seifun Welna (日清製粉ウェルナ) is the consumer-foods arm of the Nisshin Seifun Group, Japan's largest flour milling company (founded 1900). The Welna brand makes home-cooking staples: Camellia (カメリヤ) bread flour and Violet (バイオレット) cake flour, Ma-Ma (マ・マー) pasta and pasta sauces, Aodo (青の洞窟) premium Italian-style pasta sauces, dried udon and soba, plus okonomiyaki, takoyaki, karaage, tempura, and pancake mixes. What is okonomiyaki?
Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き, "grilled as you like it") is Japan's famous savoury pancake — a batter of seasoned flour, egg, and shredded cabbage, mixed with your choice of fillings, griddled, and finished with sweet-savoury sauce and toppings. Osaka-style mixes everything together; Hiroshima-style layers the ingredients with yakisoba noodles through the middle — and modan-yaki adds fried noodles to the pancake itself. Finish the traditional way with okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, aonori (seaweed flakes), and katsuobushi (bonito flakes), with beni shoga (red pickled ginger) alongside.
