Maruchan Frozen Ramen Noodles (Wave-Style) is a 1 kg bag of five individually portioned 200 g servings of pre-boiled ramen noodle, frozen in single blocks. Toyo Suisan describes the noodle as 「強いコシとウェーブが特長」 — a strong, resilient chew and a pronounced wave — and says it is finished so that the soup clings to it, which is what the crimp is for: the curls hold broth against the strand instead of letting it run off. Because the noodle is already boiled, it goes straight from the freezer into boiling water for about 30 to 45 seconds and is then ready for whatever broth you are serving. It belongs to Toyo Suisan's Menten (麺伝) range, a line the company supplies to restaurants and noodle shops rather than to supermarkets.

What frozen boiled noodles are
Frozen boiled noodles (冷凍ゆで麺) are noodles cooked to the right texture in the factory and then frozen fast enough that the ice crystals stay small, so the strand does not turn soft or waterlogged. They are reheated for seconds rather than minutes, and the texture they come back to is closer to a fresh noodle than a dried one will reach — which is why frozen noodles are the standard behind the counter in Japanese noodle shops. They must stay frozen at −18°C or below until they go in the pot, and should not be refrozen once thawed.
