Kameda Kaki no Tane (亀田の柿の種) No Peanuts 100 g — Kameda's flagship arare in the version that is 100% crackers, with the peanuts left out. Crescent-shaped rice crackers glazed in soy sauce and spice extract, crisp and savoury, in a resealable zip-lock bag. Kameda's own line for it is simply "enjoy it however you like".
About Kameda Seika
Kameda Seika (亀田製菓) is Japan's largest rice-cracker maker, founded in 1946 and incorporated in 1957 in Niigata. It describes itself as a "Rice Innovation Company" and holds roughly a third of the Japanese rice-cracker market, with seven brands that have sold for more than fifty years.
What "kaki no tane" is
Kaki no Tane (柿の種) means "persimmon seed" — the name comes from the curved, seed-like shape of the crackers. They are a type of arare (あられ): small, savoury rice crackers finished with a soy-sauce glaze. The standard version is sold mixed with peanuts, which is what makes a no-peanuts bag a distinct product rather than a variation.
