Shichimi or ichimi?
Shichimi togarashi means "seven-flavour chilli". House gives the blend as chilli pepper with dried mandarin peel, sesame, sansho pepper, poppy seed, green laver (aonori) and ginger — so it adds citrus lift, nuttiness and aroma alongside the heat. Ichimi togarashi is the "one-flavour" version: ground red chilli and nothing else, for heat that leaves the rest of a dish unchanged.
