Hanamaruki Co., Ltd. (ハナマルキ株式会社) was founded on 1 November 1918 and is headquartered in Ina City, Nagano. It is known for its miso and instant miso soup ranges, and also developed the liquid form of shio koji, which it produces at its Otone plant in Oizumi, Gunma.
What the ingredients are
Miso soup (みそ汁) is the everyday Japanese soup: fermented soybean paste loosened into a savoury stock. Wakame is a soft green sea vegetable that rehydrates in seconds. Fu (麸) is dried wheat gluten, formed into light cakes that soften in the hot broth — a traditional miso-soup garnish, not a filler. Wakegi is a mild Japanese bunching onion, closer to a spring onion than to a brown onion.
