About Daisho
Daisho Co., Ltd. (株式会社ダイショー) is a Japanese seasoning maker established in 1966, based in Fukuoka and Tokyo. It is known for pioneering the Japanese markets for yakiniku (BBQ) sauce, seasoned salt-and-pepper (Aji Shio Kosho) and nabe (hot-pot) soup bases, and runs a dedicated foodservice line to which this fry mix belongs.
What is "fry" (furai)
In Japanese cooking, "fry" (フライ / furai) means panko-crumbed deep-fried food — such as tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and korokke (croquettes) — distinct from tempura and from karaage. This mix is the seasoned batter you dip ingredients in before coating them in panko; a tip on the pack is to dust the ingredient with a little of the powder first if the coating tends to peel.
