Ajinomoto Knorr® Cup Soup Potage 49.5g is the potato potage of the Knorr Cup Soup line, in a box of three single-serve 16.5 g sachets. The powder builds a creamy potato soup layered with onion — butter-sautéed onion powder, roast onion powder and a mirepoix of onion, carrot and celery — plus cheese, whole milk and a mushroom-and-cabbage savoury base, and it finishes with a topping of croutons and parsley. Made in Japan at Ajinomoto Group factories in Kanagawa and Mie, with Japanese-produced starch.
About Ajinomoto and Knorr
Ajinomoto (味の素株式会社) has been trading since May 1909 and was incorporated in December 1925. Knorr® itself is a Unilever brand: in Japan it is licensed to Ajinomoto, where Ajinomoto Food Inc. produces the range and Ajinomoto Co. handles its sales — which is why a European soup name sits under a Japanese maker.
What potage is
Potage is the thicker, creamier style of soup in the French tradition, as distinct from a clear consommé — typically built on a puréed vegetable base. In Japan the word ポタージュ has come to signal exactly this: a smooth, thick, milky soup rather than a clear broth.
