About Calbee
Calbee, Inc. (カルビー株式会社) was founded 1949 in post-war Hiroshima by Takashi Matsuo, originally to sell Calbee Caramel (named for "calcium" and vitamin B1). The savoury-snack pivot came with Kappa Ebisen (かっぱえびせん) in 1964; the Calbee range now also includes Frugra granola, Kataage Potato chips, and a wide potato-snack lineup.
