Ajinomoto Cook Do® Ebi Chili 110g is the sauce base for 干焼蝦仁 (kan shao sha ren) — prawns stir-fried in chilli sauce, the dish Japan knows as ebi-chili. Ajinomoto builds it by frying rich, aged doubanjiang until fragrant, then adding shrimp oil (蝦油, sha-yu) infused with prawns and aromatic vegetables, so seafood character runs through the whole sauce rather than sitting on top of it. Tomato paste and grain vinegar give the bright, savoury base, and apple juice rounds the heat. One 110g pack seasons 3–4 servings.
Ajinomoto names the origins of the main raw materials: the grain vinegar is produced in Japan and the doubanjiang in China. The sauce itself is made at Ajinomoto Group plants in Kanagawa and Shizuoka, or at the company's partner plant in Mie.

What ebi-chili is
Ebi-chili is the Japanese name for the Chinese dish 干焼蝦仁 — prawns stir-fried in a chilli-and-tomato sauce. It entered Japanese home cooking through Japanese-Chinese restaurant cuisine and is now a standard family dish, generally milder and rounder than its Sichuan original.
