About Nissin Foods

Nissin Foods (日清食品) was founded 1948 by Momofuku Ando, who invented instant ramen with the launch of Chicken Ramen (チキンラーメン) in 1958 — the world's first instant noodle. In 1971 Nissin launched Cup Noodle (カップヌードル), the world's first cup-style instant noodle. The portfolio includes Cup Noodle, Donbei (どん兵衛) udon and soba, U.F.O. yakisoba, Raoh (ラ王) premium ramen, and Hiyashi Chuka summer ramen. Tonkotsu (豚骨) is a Japanese ramen broth simmered for many hours from pork bones (often spine and trotters) until collagen breaks down into a cloudy, milky, deeply savoury soup. The signature style of Kyushu — especially Hakata and Kumamoto — distinct from clear shoyu (soy sauce) or shio (salt) broths.
