Daisho Chubo Oh Karaage Ko (厨房王 から揚げ粉) 1 kg — the seasoned coating powder behind Japanese-style fried chicken. Everything is already in the powder: wheat flour and corn starch for the crust, with paprika, pepper and red chilli for a warm, gently spiced savouriness. Mix it with water, coat your chicken and fry — the coating comes out crisp and appetisingly golden while the meat stays juicy. One 1 kg bag covers roughly 5 kg of meat.
About Daisho
Daisho (株式会社ダイショー) was founded in December 1966 in Fukuoka as Daisho Shokuhin, and its very first product was a yakiniku sauce — Yakiniku Ichiban. The company still works the same seam today: sauces, seasoned salts and coating mixes built around Japanese home and restaurant cooking, run from dual headquarters in Tokyo and Fukuoka.
What "Chubo Oh" means
Chubo Oh (厨房王) — literally "kitchen king" — is Daisho's professional foodservice line, made for restaurants, delis and other kitchens cooking at volume. The packs are sized in kilograms rather than household portions, and the directions are written for batch cooking. This karaage powder sits in Daisho's 業務用 (commercial-use) range under prepared foods and powdered seasonings.
What karaage ko is
Karaage (から揚げ) is the Japanese approach to fried chicken: bite-sized pieces given a thin, light coating and deep-fried, so the crust stays fine and crackly rather than thick and bready. Ko (粉) simply means the powder. A karaage ko carries the seasoning as well as the coating, so the chicken needs no separate marinade — which is what makes it practical for a busy kitchen.
How to use it — Daisho's directions
For each 1 kg of powder, add 1 L of water a little at a time, in several additions. Mix until smooth, coat the ingredients, then deep-fry at 170–180°C. Daisho notes that the shorter the gap between mixing the batter and frying, the crisper the coating turns out. One 1 kg bag is enough for approximately 5 kg of meat.
