About House Foods & Fruiche
House Foods (ハウス食品) is one of Japan's largest food manufacturers, tracing its origins to a business founded in Osaka in 1913 and best known for its curry roux and retort meals. Fruiche (フルーチェ) is its long-running just-add-milk dessert brand, launched in 1976 and reaching its 50th anniversary in March 2026.
How Fruiche works
Put one pouch in a bowl (keep the pouch at room temperature — don't chill it), add 200 ml of cold milk all at once, then mix in big strokes — about two strokes a second — until it turns thick and creamy. If the finished dessert is still loose, chill it for 30 minutes. It sets because the pectin in Fruiche bonds with the calcium in cold cow's milk, so use cow's milk or component-adjusted milk; it will not set with milk drinks, processed milk or soy milk.
