Nisshin's Gokushittori (極しっとり, "extra-moist") pancake mix blends rice flour (米粉) into a wheat-flour base that is 100% Japanese-grown, for a moist, tender crumb that stays soft rather than drying out. Nisshin makes it only lightly sweetened, so the same mix suits a sweet pancake stack or a savoury, meal-style pancake. The 480 g bag holds three individually wrapped 160 g sachets, each about four pancakes.
About Nisshin Seifun Welna
Nisshin Seifun Welna (日清製粉ウェルナ) is the consumer-foods company of Japan's Nisshin Seifun Group — founded in 1962 as Nisshin Foods and renamed in 2022 — and its home-use ranges lead the Japanese market, holding the No. 1 household wheat-flour share at 65.8% (Intage SRI+, April 2021–March 2024). Alongside the 日清 flour and pre-mix ranges it makes the Ma-Ma (マ・マー) pasta and Aoi no Dokutsu (青の洞窟) pasta-sauce lines. (Note: "Nisshin" 日清製粉 is a separate company from "Nissin" 日清食品, the instant-noodle maker.)
What is a Japanese pancake
Japanese pancakes and hotcakes (ホットケーキ) are their own café and kissaten (coffee-shop) tradition — thicker, moister and softer than a typical Western pancake, with a cake-like crumb rather than a flat, chewy one.
