Otafuku Yakisoba Sauce (焼きそばソース) 500g — Otafuku's classic yakisoba sauce: a thick, fruity-sweet and savoury Worcestershire-style finish for Japanese stir-fried noodles, with the full-bodied sweetness of dates and an aromatic hint of spices.
About Otafuku Sauce
Otafuku Sauce (オタフクソース) traces its origins to Sasaki Shoten, a Hiroshima sake-and-soy-sauce wholesaler founded 1922. The company launched its first Worcestershire Sauce in 1950 and the now-iconic Okonomi Sauce in 1952 — developed in response to Hiroshima okonomiyaki restaurant owners who complained that thinner sauces ran off the grill. Otafuku Okonomi Sauce holds an 80%+ market share in Japan's household okonomiyaki sauce category. The portfolio also includes Yakisoba Sauce, Takoyaki Sauce, vinegar, and okonomiyaki ingredient mixes.
What's yakisoba
Yakisoba (焼そば) is Japanese stir-fried wheat noodles with cabbage, pork, and a thick Worcestershire-style sauce, finished with aonori and pickled red ginger. Despite "soba" in the name, it uses Chinese-style wheat noodles, not buckwheat. A festival-stall and home-cooking staple across Japan.
