Otafuku Sauce (オタフクソース) traces its origins to Sasaki Shoten, a Hiroshima sake-and-soy-sauce wholesaler founded 1922. The company launched its first Worcestershire Sauce in 1950 and the now-iconic Okonomi Sauce in 1952 — developed in response to Hiroshima okonomiyaki restaurant owners who complained that thinner sauces ran off the grill. Otafuku Okonomi Sauce holds an 80%+ market share in Japan's household okonomiyaki sauce category.
