About Otafuku Sauce
Otafuku Sauce (オタフクソース) traces its origins to Sasaki Shoten, a Hiroshima sake-and-soy-sauce wholesaler founded 1922. The company launched its first Worcestershire Sauce in 1950 and the now-iconic Okonomi Sauce in 1952 — developed in response to Hiroshima okonomiyaki restaurant owners who complained that thinner sauces ran off the grill. Otafuku Okonomi Sauce holds an 80%+ market share in Japan's household okonomiyaki sauce category. The portfolio also includes Yakisoba Sauce, Takoyaki Sauce, vinegar, and okonomiyaki ingredient mixes.
What's takoyaki
Takoyaki (たこ焼き, lit. "octopus-grilled") are golf-ball-sized savoury Osaka-style snacks — wheat flour batter cooked in a special dimpled pan with a piece of octopus, green onion, and tempura scraps in each ball. Finished with takoyaki sauce, mayo, bonito flakes, and aonori. A Kansai-region street-food icon.
