About Nisshin Seifun Welna
Nisshin Seifun Welna (日清製粉ウェルナ) is the consumer-foods arm of the Nisshin Seifun Group, Japan's largest flour milling company (founded 1900). The Welna brand makes home-cooking staples: Camellia (カメリヤ) bread flour and Violet (バイオレット) cake flour, Ma-Ma (マ・マー) pasta and pasta sauces, Aodo (青の洞窟) premium Italian-style pasta sauces, dried udon and soba, plus okonomiyaki, takoyaki, karaage, tempura, and pancake mixes. Note that "Nisshin" (日清製粉, double-s) is a separate company from "Nissin" (日清食品, single-s) — different families, different histories.
Nisshin's Age-jouzu (揚げ上手) tempura flour mix is engineered for perfect results without the usual pitfalls of home tempura. No cold water. No eggs. No special technique required. Just mix, dip, and fry.
